Who Will Be The Next Prez Of NBC News?

It’s oh so quiet. Assuming that Neal Shapiro is indeed on the way out, who will take his place? Here’s some speculation, from the tip box and elsewhere:

> A few weeks ago Phil Griffin was named Executive in Charge of ‘Today.’ Was it a temporary move, designed to put Griffin in line for Shapiro’s job?

> MSNBC prez Rick Kaplan was always said to be ready to take over for Shapiro…

> A tipster suggests this move: “Zucker ‘voluntarily’ steps down to take over news, to ‘help’ his good buddy Bob Wright, and Scott Sassa takes Zucker’s job.”

> How about Cheryl Gould, who worked under Andy Lack before being sent to CNBC?

> Was Richard Leibner really making phone calls yesterday telling people that he was wrong: Henry Schleiff WASN’T in the running?

> Drudge said Steve Capus would take over, but NBC denied it, and FTVLive says Capus is replacing Bill Wheatley as VP. “Drudge had a bad source,” Capus told colleagues today…
