“This date of January 29th is an important one to those of us at ABC News. It was a year ago today that Bob Woodruff — who was anchoring this broadcast — was injured by an IED explosion in Iraq. And almost died. A number of times.

Great military medical care saved Bob and his cameraman Doug Vogt. But even after surviving, Bob’s prognosis was problematical from the moment he woke up.

So many of you have asked how Bob has been doing in this past year. The answer is great. His speech, his memory, his appearance, his spirit… Are all on the mend.

And his progress? Well you’ll see it when Bob comes back on air at the end of next month. He’s working on a program about his injuries.

Bob is in the newsroom almost every day. It is great to have him there. It will be great to have him back on air next month.”
