Pro Golfer Ben Crane Turns To Twitter To Find His New Caddie

Another win for sports and Twitter:
Golf pro Ben Crane turned to his Twitter following this week to crowdsource a replacement caddie at the HP Byron Nelson Championship Pro-Am in Texas.
After deciding to give his regular caddie the day off, Crane tweeted a challenge to his 100,000 followers in a series of tweets (yes, sometimes 140 characters is just not enough):

There was a wide range of submissions, from funny to creepy to heartwarming:
I want to #caddyforcrane because I don’t want to go to school tomorrow and my principal would be fine with me skipping. Also, I play golf.

Relative caddy experience: I have an intimate knowledge and love for cranes….mechanical, bird, human, whatever#caddyforcrane

I read greens at a 17th grade level and tend pins with the focus of those British royal guard guys. I can also bring snacks. #caddyforcrane

@bencranegolf was Portland Golf Club caddy of the year in 2010. 6 years of experience. Now a Duck at the U of O. #caddyforcrane

And definitely an overall sense of appreciation for the venture:
Ben Crane’s #caddyforcrane contest tonight further proves to me why he’s my favorite player on the @pgatour.

The winning candidate sealed the deal thanks to the fact that it was his birthday on the day his caddie services would be needed:
@bencranegolf former acu golfer. Just graduated from college and live in Rowlett. Oh and my birthday is tomorrow. #caddyforcrane

Introducing my @hpbnc ProAm caddy, @mojogolfng360. Tomorrow is his birthday. Thought caddying would be a fun gift. Let’s go low, buddy!
— Ben Crane (@bencranegolf) May 15, 2013
And here’s the happy couple:
New tagline for @twitter: “Instantly connect to what’s most important to you…& hire a ProAm caddy” @mojogolfng360 twitter.com/bencranegolf/s…
— Ben Crane (@bencranegolf) May 15, 2013
And it seems like Crane is pretty pleased with the outcome:
PS: I love Twitter for random stuff like this. Thanks for all the submissions. Super entertaining. Hopefully we can do it again sometime
