How Mo Rocca Uses Twitter to Get Stories for CBS Sunday Morning

CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Mo Rocca gets a lot of latitude when it comes to picking his stories. From Columbus Day, to the Electoral College, to men who dye their hair, Rocca says his job “is basically like going back to college and taking only electives.” In the latest Mediabistro interview, he tells how he used Twitter to pick and research a story.

Inspired by a conversation with a friend, Rocca sent the following tweet:

A debate ensued. “I’ve never gotten responses like this,” he said. “So, I’m going to do a Sunday Morning story on the predicament of tall women, and it’s a story I got from Twitter. It’s very personal, something very relatable.”
