PeopleBrowsr Beats Twitter In Federal Court, Wins Costs, Hope (For All Third-Party Developers)

In November of last year, Peoplebrowsr, who make Kred (amongst other products), won a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Twitter after the latter terminated their longstanding relationship, which threatened to cut off PeopleBrowsr’s access to Twitter’s “firehose” of tweets.

Without that firehose, Peoplebrowsr doesn’t have much of a business. Twitter took the case to Federal Court, on the basis that “PeopleBrowsr’s complaint is based on federal antitrust law”, filing a Notice of Removal to have the TRO removed. It didn’t work. The Federal Court agreed with PeopleBrowsr, and the case is now returning to State Court, which gives PeopleBrowsr a much better chance of winning.

Friends, Family Have Far More Social Clout Than Obama, Celebrities, Says Study [INFOGRAPHIC]

A lot has been written about the importance of influence in social media, with platforms such as Klout, Kred and Peerindex each competing to rank the folks with the most impressive level of swagger across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and the other major social platforms.

President Barack Obama is generally accepted as the individual person with the most online swing, and a recent poll supported that view, with 50 percent of respondents rating the President as the most influential person in social media, ahead of Justin Bieber (38 percent) and Lady Gaga (35 percent).

But even the President’s numbers pale into comparison to the people closest to us, with 95 percent of respondents citing friends as their most trusted social influencers.
