Twitter is hundreds of thousands of people’s go-to source for hard-charging news on everything from the NSA scandal and BlackBerry drama to the latest in the Amanda Bynes saga and in Miley Cyrus’s controversial career.
Security and surveillance software leader BrickHouse Security created an infographic to discern the breakdown in Twitter popularity among these contrasting topics.
Put more bluntly, where exactly do people’s priorities lie when it comes to international events vs. celebrity controversies?
As you can see, salacious gossip (or in BrickHouse’s words, “useless crap”) tends to win out in tweet volume over more legitimate topics. Way to go, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Maine, and New Hampshire for tweeting more about NSA, Prism, and Snowden than Amanda Bynes.
