Not a bad guest list for lunch at the White House this afternoon… Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Bob Schieffer, David Gregory, George Stephanopoulos, Wolf Blitzer, John King, Bret Baier and Chris Wallance. Oh, and President Obama, accompanied by senior advisor David Axelrod.

And just what was served? Stephanopoulos Twittered, “Lobster bisque w beignets, seared Virginia bass w leeks and pot, pound cake w fruit compote and lemon sorbet.”

Couric has a blog post about the lunch. “He said he wishes he could do the job anonymously. At that point, his senior adviser said: ‘Then you’d be Dick Cheney,’” she blogs.

Over at the Daily Nightly, Williams, who got to sit next to the President, calls the lunch better-than-average. “It was a wide-ranging discussion (the ground rules prohibit us from quoting the President directly) that included movies (“Slumdog” reminded him of growing up in Jakarta, he saw “Gran Torino” last night and loved it) and his own life and security (he was horrified to learn that everyone who attended his daughter’s basketball game this past weekend was searched prior to his arrival) and the business at hand,” he blogs.
