CBS News’s D.C. Bureau Stars

CBS News reeled in seven Emmy awards last night. Some journalists in CBS News’s Washington bureau are to be commended for winning an Emmy for “OUTSTANDING INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM IN A REGULARLY SCHEDULED NEWSCAST.”

The Emmy was awarded for Rape in America: Justice Denied which appeared on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. D.C.-based Laura Strickler, an investigative producer, worked on that story.

Another Emmy was awarded for BEST STORY IN A REGULARLY SCHEDULED NEWSCAST. The story was The Battle of Wanat. Those in the D.C. Bureau who worked on this story include National Security Correspondent David Martin, Senior Producer Ward Sloane and Producer Mary Walsh.
