FBDC FaceRace: Washington Anchors

facebook_logo-300x300Yesterday we took a look at the social standing of the DC publications, now it’s time to turn our attention to those network anchors who call our fair city home. FishbowlDC analyzed the Facebook pages of some of DC’s biggest television personalities and the results are revealing. First off, the numbers here are a bit more complicated than with Twitter, since some anchors have well-developed personal pages, while others have clearly spent their time developing their shows’ pages. Our analysts decided the fairest way to provide objective rankings was to combine the followers/likes of anchors’ personal fan pages with those of the shows they host. Below are the rankings of Washington-based anchors based on this combined number.

The takeaway: Chris Matthews is the big winner here. George Stephanopoulos technically bests him, but bear in mind that Stephanopoulos is on network TV nearly every day -a fact which no doubt boosts his personal brand. If you compare their DC-based shows side by side, Matthews is way ahead. Moreover, Stephanopoulos is not actually a full-time DC anchor. He spends most of his time in NYC.
