Krauthammer and Ailes on ‘Underpants’ Politics

abc_d_PETN_underwear_091228_main.jpgHere’s the scenario: you’re going on a Sunday morning talk show and among a variety of topics, you’ll discuss the guy who had bomb material sewn into his underwear for a Christmas Day flight. So what terminology do you use?

On Sunday columnist Charles Krauthammer and Fox News President Roger Ailes appeared on respective shows – Krauthammer on his usual “Fox News Sunday” panel, and Ailes on ABC “This Week” for the first time with guest host Barbara Walters.

“Now we’re going to have to take everybody’s underpants off,” Ailes told Walters. Krauthammer, meanwhile, remarked about a “guy who had a bomb in his underpants.”

In each case on Sunday, both men used “underpants” to describe the Christmas Day criminal.

Awkward to watch, indeed. The use of “underpants” from either of these stalwarts is tough to hear.

Each journalist/talk show host handles the words differently.
