What Happened to Rick Warren on This Week?

Pastor Rick Warren was scheduled as Sunday’s guest on ABC’s This Week, but canceled just “moments before the scheduled interview,” George Stephanopoulos explained in the show open.

“Happy Easter and Happy Passover. For those of you tuning in this morning expecting to hear from Pastor Rick Warren, we were too, but the pastor’s representatives canceled moments before the scheduled interview, saying that Mr. Warren is sick from exhaustion. We hope he recovers quickly and we’re going to turn instead to the hostage standoff off the coast of Somalia.”

The cancelation was in the midst of confusion over comments Warren made on Larry King Live, that he “never once… gave an endorsement” to California’s Proposition 8.

Politico’s Mike Allen received this email explanation from an aide to Warren, who said, “There has been a lot of blog chatter trying to connect the dots with the interviews this weekend and comments Dr. Warren made on CNN Larry King Live, but his cancellations were related to health and fatigue…”
