Frommer’s to Publish Again

For some reason, it’s a good day for print. Earlier we mentioned Allrecpies becoming a magazine, and now travel guide enthusiasts can rejoice, because Frommer’s is back. The New York Times reports that Arthur Frommer, the founder of Frommer’s, has purchased the brand back from Google, and will begin publishing the books again in October.

When Google bought Frommer’s from John Wiley & Sons last summer, few expected the print editions to continue. They didn’t. Instead, Google incorporated information from Frommer’s into its search results.

Now, despite it being a bad time for travel guides because of that little thing called Yelp, Frommer’s has new life. Frommer struck a distribution deal with Perseus Books Group, and things are underway. “I feel like I’m starting all over again,” Frommer told the Times. “I’m working hard to bring them back to what they were.”

With such good print karma in the air today, don’t be surprised if in a couple hours we tell you that Railroad Man’s Magazine is making a comeback as well.
