Three New York Times Pulitzer Winners Ask Paper to Meet Contract Demands

Kevin Sack, Dan Barry and Amy Harmon — all Pulitzer Prize winners at The New York Times — have asked the paper to meet the union’s contract demands. In the video above, the three make the case that the paper should pay up, but Sack kicks things up a notch.

“I think one of the real changes out there in the media landscape out there, that we have to be aware of, is that there are alternatives now,” said Sack. “The electronic media evolution has gotten to the point where there are competing organizations that will pick off Times reporters and are able to pay them significantly higher salaries than the paper is putting forth at this point.”

Damn. Sack is not one for subtlety.

It’s unfortunate that this has gone on for so long, but even with videos like this, it’s probably going to be awhile before anything gets resolved.
