Yesterday, in a match that will be remembered for a long time and likely take the host nation (and its ardent fans) years to recover from, Germany humiliated a Sunday league-esque Brazil side 7-1 in the World Cup semi finals.

Twitter, of course, soaked up a lot of the conversation around the game, a lot of which was and stunned reaction, mockery and sheer bemusement.

Some 35.6 million tweets about Brazil v Germany were exchanged on Twitter during the matchup, making it Twitter’s most-discussed single sports game ever, peaking at a heady 580,166 tweets per minute (TPM).
