Some cities have it, others don’t – that insatiable urge to tweet, retweet, and otherwise obsess over the daily happenings on Twitter. A new study has just been released that measures just how active cities across the US are on Twitter, and some of the top 10 might surprise you. Does your city make the cut?
NetProspex, a B2B prospecting company, examined how social different cities and industries across the US are in their latest Social Business Report. They used an extensive database of business contacts to measure how socially connected US businesses are, and they drilled down this data to determine which city has the most business Tweeple.
Here’s the list of the top 10 Twitter cities:
1 New York, NY
2 San Francisco, CA
3 Washington, DC
4 Sacramento, CA
5 Phoenix, AZ
6 Denver, CO
7 Las Vegas, NV
8 Los Angeles, CA
9 Cincinnati, OH
10 Wilmington, DE
While the top three cities are really no surprise, what may shock some is the order in which they appear: San Francisco isn’t the most Twitter-loving city, despite Twitter’s headquarters being located there. New York takes the top spot instead. And Washington, coming in third place, isn’t much of a surprise either – it’s the country’s capitol and home to the political elite, some of the most prominent Twitter users out there.
So did your city make it into the top 10? See any cities that surprise you? We’d love to hear your comments!
