Life can get pretty busy sometimes. Running to catch the train just in time, catching up on the news while you ride to work, dealing with clients, bosses, meetings, conference calls, and then the email-riddled ride home… there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything.
And that’s where Tweet Speaker, a new Twitter app, comes in. Rather than making it easier for you to read your timeline, it will read it to you, allowing you to plug you headphones into your smartphone and listen to your timeline during your commute, lunch break, at the gym or whenever you have half an ear free.
Tweet Speaker is currently available in the Apple App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. For $2.99 it promises to read you your tweets in an understandable, pleasant voice. And it appears to be a success.
The app itself acts kind of like a radio station, and it’s skinned to feel like you’re just tuning in to your timeline. You can set it to read through the tweets in your home timeline, or listen to your replies and lists. Tweet Speaker lets you start from any point in your queued list of tweets, and it will read them to you in the order in which they were sent.
This means that you can now tweet and drive without endangering yourself and those around you. Simply set the marker to where you want to start listening, start you car and press play. You can listen to your tweets and keep your focus on the road.
The app also includes some pretty cool special features, like the ability to synch with your speakers using AirTime. And there is word that new voices are on their way.
