Have you run into any odd behavior on Twitter lately? New software from Bitdefender, Safego, will root out spammers and scammers who might be targeting your tweets. But until the software is ready to download, here’s an infographic that highlights the worst type of Twitter dangers out there, so you can learn to defend yourself.
So what are the dangers on Twitter, exactly?
According to this infographic, there are at least seven major offenders. Here are a few highlights:
Account hijacking apps will completely take over your Twitter account, sending DMs, @messages, and other communication to your followers, sending them to phishing pages to try and steal their passwords.
There are also trending topic snatchers who take over a trending topic and replace the true links with those leading to a phishing site.
And then there’s the dreaded “hot spambot” – those accounts that are fully outfitted with super-sexy and usually revealing profile pictures, trying to lure in as many drooling followers as they can to spam them with gibberish and links to malware.
