Twitter acquired Vine in October 2012 and launched the service fully in January the following year, and the platform has gone from strength-to-strength ever since, topping the App Store download charts in April 2013 and quickly signing up millions of users.
Five Vines are now tweeted every second on Twitter, with late-mornings on the weekends the most popular time videos are shared. About six in 10 users are women, with 18-20 year-olds the top demographic.
