Screenwriters Will Want To Check Out The #BlackList2012 Chat Tomorrow

Are you a screenwriter looking for tips? Or maybe you just love knowing about the (potentially) next great Indie movie before anyone else?

Either way, you’ll want to check out the #BlackList2012 chat happening on Twitter tomorrow.

What’s The Black List?

The Black List ”is where moviemakers find great scripts to make and scripts find moviemakers to make them.”

It began as a survey. In 2005, Franklin Leonard surveyed almost 100 film industry development executives about their favorite scripts from that year that had not been made as feature films. That first list – many of which have been made since – can be viewed here. Since then the voter pool has grown to about 500 film executives, 60% of whom typically respond.

Over 200 Black List screenplays have been made as feature films. Those films have earned over $16BN in worldwide box office, have been nominated for 148 Academy Awards, and have won 25, including Best Pictures SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and THE KING’S SPEECH and five of the last ten screenwriting Oscars. [Check out the full list here.]

This year’s Black List was announced this morning and tomorrow “there will be an exclusive Twitter Q&A with Black List founder Franklin Leonard (@franklinleonard) and screenwriters.”

Or, as Twitter reports that the list includes “the ‘most liked’ unproduced screenplays for 2012, [so] movie fans on Twitter can gain access to some of tinseltown’s most talented writers behind-the-scenes.”

Want in? Check out the hashtag #BlackList2012 tomorrow (Tuesday) at 8 a.m. ET.
