New Service Sends ‘Your’ Tweets From The Grave

What will happen to your Twitter when you die? Have you created a social media will to detail your wishes?

If you’re Twitter-obsessed, you may want to add this new service to your list. It will send tweets from your Twitter for you after you die, helping you completely traumatize those who love you. And isn’t that really what life’s all about?

LivesOn is a service that wants to help you live forever (well, until the Internet no longer exists after the robots rise up, but you get the point). Their tagline is “when your heart stops beating, you’ll keep tweeting.”

The Guardian explains that the service “uses Twitter bots powered by algorithms that analyse your online behaviour and learn how you speak, so it can keep on scouring the internet, favouriting tweets and posting the sort of links you like, creating a personal digital afterlife.”

“It divides people on a gut level, before you even get to the philosophical and ethical arguments,” says Dave Bedwood, creative partner of Lean Mean Fighting Machine, the London-based ad agency that is developing it.

“It offends some, and delights others. Imagine if people started to see it as a legitimate but small way to live on. Cryogenics costs a fortune; this is free and I’d bet it will work better than a frozen head.”

Yeah, this is great. It proves that no matter how advanced we may become technologically, the world will always be full of creepy people coming up with creepy ideas – and there will be a creepy audience clamoring for it. Ick.

If this sounds like your kind of party, the only other thing you’ll need to do, really (beyond securing your spot) is sucker an executor into keeping watch over your account when you die. That’s not narcissistic or anything. I’m sure they’ll have nothing better to do when you’re gone.

But tell us – what do YOU think of this idea?
