Uh oh. It looks like an overzealous social media intern has let it slip that Justin Timberlake will be hosting the season finale of SNL. If only there was an “are you sure, absolutely sure, you want to tweet this?” popup every time an intern tweeted…
According to BuddyTV, someone over at SNL has made a big boo-boo.
A fan apparently tweeted to the official SNL account (@nbcsnl):
“I didn’t realize that @nbcsnl isn’t back until May 7th!!! What am I going to do!? Is Tina Fey the season finale!? #SNL #aaahhhh.”
And rather than tweeting some cryptic tweet telling that fan to stay tuned for an announcement, somebody over at SNL tweeted:
“Nope! We have Timberlake after that!”
Quite the facepalm moment.
A single tweet can be quite the damaging thing. Earlier today we reported how a media personality was booted from Chateau Marmont for tweeting about a celebrity guest, and we’ve covered stories of interns sending tweets meant for their personal accounts to the official accounts they were managing too.
While this SNL tweeter didn’t tweet anything damaging per se, unveiling the season finale host is something that we’re sure SNL wanted to do with a bit more fanfare than a leaked, and subsequently deleted, tweet.
This might not exactly be a situation where heads roll, but if someone hasn’t lost their job over this, they’ve at least got a big chewing out from the folks at SNL.
