54% Of Recruiters Now Use Twitter To Source Job Candidates [INFOGRAPHIC]

Did you know that an amazing 93 percent of recruiters now use LinkedIn to source prospective job candidates?

Facebook is a distant second, with two-thirds (66 percent) of recruitment firms using that platform, and for the first time over half (54 percent) now use Twitter – yet another reason why you must be mindful what you tweet, particularly if you’re looking for work.

The wooden spoon (as usual) goes to Google+, with just one-in-five (20 percent) favouring that channel.

LinkedIn has led all social platforms for recruitment by some distance since 2010, which makes sense – it is a business social network, after all. And there’s no sign of its lead slowing down anytime soon – indeed, LinkedIn’s 2010 numbers (78 percent) were better than any other network’s 2012 figures.

This social recruitment survey was carried out by Jobvite, who polled more than 1,000 human resources and recruitment professionals on their social recruiting activities and intentions. 73 percent of respondents said that they had successfully hired through social media – up from 58 percent in 2010 – with 89 percent saying that LinkedIn had produced the most successful candidates, far ahead of Facebook (25 percent) and Twitter (15 percent).

“The rise in social recruiting has allowed both candidates and employers an easier way to find the best match,” said Dan Finnigan, Jobvite CEO. “We continue to see social recruiting gain popularity because it is more efficient than the days of sifting through a haystack of resumes. It also increases quality referral hires, which our own data on Jobvite proves are hired faster and last longer.”
