The Top Tweets In Small Business In 2011 [INFOGRAPHIC]

Many small businesses have come on board the Twitter train. It’s a low-cost, effective marketing solution for one-person operations, small start-ups and other shops that can’t afford a prime-time Super Bowl ad.

The folks at Future Simple took a look at the most retweeted tweets from the small business community over the last year, and put them in an easy-to-read infographic.

Future Simple measured the most successful tweets from small business companies, media and influencers in 2011 by counting their retweets.

The most retweeted tweets of the past year are a diverse bunch. For instance, this touching tweet from Chris Brogan (@ChrisBrogan) received 994 retweets:

“Alice is 15 & has terminal cancer. She created a list of things she would like to do. Can anyone help? http://goo.gl/X8Vdc”

And, in a totally different spirit, this tweet from Mashable (@Mashable) got a massive 1,845 retweets:

“Damn You Auto Correct Reveals 9 Funniest Texts of the Year http://t.co/yaCovGr0″

But the tweet that got the most retweets in 2011 will probably come as a surprise to most of you. With a grand total of 30,178 retweets, Dropbox (@Dropbox) is the big winner of 2011:

“A guide onhot to get more free space with Dropbox! http://t.co/nljwo0nM Retweet for a chance to get +100GB!”

I’m not sure whether this tweet was promoted or not, but the chance to win 100 GB of additional storage space was no doubt a huge contributor to the massive number of retweets it received.
