The Golden Globes: Bad Night For Ricky Gervais, Good Night For Twitter [INFOGRAPHIC]

Judging by the reaction on Twitter, the 69th Golden Globes, which took place this past Sunday, was a big hit.

Twitter has confirmed that the awards show triggered a tweets per second (TPS) peak of 6,162, which surpassed last year’s Super Bowl and the Royal Wedding, but fell short of Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement and Castle In The Sky, which set Twitter’s all-time TPS benchmark.

While it was a big night for Twitter, Ricky Gervais, your host for the 2012 Globes, didn’t fair so well. Widely criticized for toning down his comedy – which might be a little harsh given how he triggered the opposite reaction in 2011 – the reaction to Gervais on Twitter (Bieber fans aside) was largely eclipsed by Zooey Deschanel’s tweet about her tuxedo nail manicure, which received over five thousand retweets.

(Personally, I thought Ricky was very funny. Either way, he’s said in his blog that this is the last time he’ll likely host the Globes.)

TweetReach took a closer look at Twitter’s response to the 2012 Golden Globes, and produced this infographic detailing the results.
