Yesterday stars and luminaries from the world of cinema gathered together at the 86th Academy Awards to honour the actors, movies and technical achievements in film in 2013, and Twitter was there to reap the spoils.
And how: during the live show, more than 14.7 million tweets about the Oscars were sent around the world, reaching an incredible peak of 254,644 tweets per minute (TPM) when host Ellen Degeneres shared a photo that became Twitter’s most retweeted tweet of all time.

Additionally, Ellen’s Twitter profile added more than one million extra followers during the telecast.
Jennifer Lawrence was the most tweeted-about star on the night, with Gravity Twitter’s most talked-about film.
