When you visit Twitter.com, how fast does it load?

It may be quick. It may be slow. But, of course, you have no way of knowing whether Twitter loads for you faster or slower than anyone else.

Until now.

Thanks to those fine chaps at Dotcom Monitor, we can now how efficiently Twitter loads around the world. No surprise that San Francisco is your winner, ahead of New York and Calgary, but you have to feel sorry for those poor folks in Cape Town, whose Twitter.com loading speed is more than four times as slow. And it isn’t just the proximity to Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco that seems to be the kicker, as Syndey’s loading speeds are better than Orlandos!

Of course, your mileage may vary. Just because you’re in San Francisco doesn’t mean you’re using Twitter at lightning speeds – after all, you might still be connecting with a 56k dial-up modem on a heavily-customised VIC-20 – but pound for pound, and tweet for tweet, this is an interesting look at Twitter.com loading speeds around the globe.
