Twitter is gearing up to expand its Promoted Tweets to businesses in the UK this October, according to a recent report. More on what brands will likely be the first to sign up below.
Promoted Tweets, Trends and Accounts are the three types of advertising a brand can purchase on Twitter. In each case, a tweet, trend or account will be made visible to a much wider audience than just the accounts following that brand – either by appearing in search results or as a Trending Topic.
It is rumored that Promoted Products can cost upwards of $120,000 per day.
Twitter has been offering Promoted Products to its US partners and advertisers for about a year and a half now.
UK-based Marketing Magazine is reporting that Twitter’s small sales team – which has been in the UK since last September – will likely now start facilitating the first batch of UK brands interested in purchasing ads on the network.
The brands that Twitter is rumored to be in talks with for the UK launch include Sony, Sky, O2 and Vodafone.
The details of the launch are unknown as of yet, but sources say Twitter is looking to offer package deals to advertisers, and is asking for as much as a six-figure initial investment.
It is also rumored that Twitter is looking to begin offering not only country-specific advertising, but more regionally-targeted ads.
