Bloomberg News Loses Exec Editor to National Geographic

Susan Goldberg, executive editor for Bloomberg News since 2010, is leaving the company to take on the same role for National Geographic. Goldberg previously served as deputy managing editor for USA Today, editor for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and executive editor for The San Jose Mercury News.

“I’m excited about staying in the news business and about doing something quite different after 35 years of daily journalism,” Goldberg explained in an email obtained by the Huffington Post. “And I love the idea of giving back at a non-profit where I’ll work with writers worldwide on longform stories for the magazine and breaking news for the web, on issues that mean a lot to me: cultural diversity, the environment, climate change and species preservation, among others.”

Cesca Antonelli will succeed Goldberg as Bloomberg News’ executive editor for the Washington, state and local teams.
