Conde Nast Rumored to Release iPad Subscriptions Next Week

Yesterday some rumors emerged that Conde Nast was trying to unveil Apple’s subscriptions on its iPad magazines before Hearst, and this morning, Keith Kelly is adding some fuel to the fire.

He says that Conde is definitely interested in beating Hearst, and will announce Apple’s subscription method next week, with The New Yorker the first magazine with the function. Others will follow shortly after that, available for $1.99 per single issue and $19.99 for a year.

As we said yesterday, the real win for publishers won’t be which gets the subscription method first, it’ll be which company has the most. But you have to love two companies battling over something that doesn’t mean all that much in the end.
