New Jersey’s The Record Grabs Global Editor from The New York Times

The second largest newspaper in New Jersey — The Record — has hired Martin Gottlieb, Global Editions Editor of The New York Times for the past three years, as its new Editor-in-Chief.

At the Times, Gottlieb oversaw the Paris and and Hong Kong-based operations of the International Herald Tribune. Prior to that, Gottlieb was Associate Managing Editor of the Times’ newsroom on the weekends. He originally joined the Times in 1983 as a reporter.

“I am so excited about Marty’s joining The Record,” said the paper’s Publisher, Stephen A. Borg. “He is a real pro whose experience and stature will elevate us to the next level.”

Gottlieb is succeeding Frank Scandale, who left The Record two months ago.
