New York Media Hires Chief Technology Officer

New York Media has named Larry Chevres has chief technology officer. He’ll start in the position November 7.

Chevres will oversee all technology for the company’s digital business, which includes the news and service Website nymag.com that recently topped 10 million monthly unique users.

Chevres is also in charge of the Grub Street network of food blogs; the entertainment and culture news site Vulture; and the mobile apps Vulture Clickables for iPhone, The Cut on the Runway and New York magazine for iPad, and nymag.com blogs for Android.

He will oversee a team of about 20 front end and back end application developers, quality assurance engineers, project managers and systems administrators and will report to Michael Silberman, General Manager for Digital Media.

In the role, Chevres will oversee all technology for the digital business, including application development for Web, mobile and tablets, datacenter operations, and technology vendor relations.

Chevres joins New York Media, the parent company of New York magazine, after a four-year stint at Ziff Davis as Vice President for engineering.

He is a Princeton University graduate.
