Rupert Murdoch’s Mother Dies at 103

Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, mother of Rupert Murdoch, has died. She was 103.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Elisabeth was one of Australia’s most generous people, donating excessive amounts of money to charity during her lifetime:

She supported more than 100 charities, with particular interests in the arts and in children’s health, and was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, one of Britain’s highest civilian honors, in 1963 for her services to social welfare. In 1989 Australia awarded her a similar honor, Companion of the Order of Australia, for service to the community.

Dame Murdoch is survived by three children: Rupert, Anne Kantor and Janet Calvert-Jones.
