Office Parties Worst Company Perk?
Now that’s an office party.
A survey conducted on behalf of Glassdoor.com finds that more workers would prefer cash, a raise, more vacation, grocery gift cards, even a gym membership than a company party with an open bar.
The only things “drinking with colleagues” ranked higher than were a commuter subsidy or a gold watch/other merch. (Though truth be told, a gold watch is much nicer than, say, a company duffle bag. But oh well.)
Unsurprising, really. Jack Daniels doesn’t spend as well as cold hard cash. But if your employer is throwing one that isn’t one of these, you should go. Just because cash seems more appealing doesn’t negate the importance of schmoozing with the people you have to smile at every weekday. Besides…..it might be fun. Hey, you never know.
