Tired of the same old recruiting methods—job boards, network events, etc.? Now new media is giving recruiters a novel option when attempting to discover new candidates. Veteran podcasters, Chris Russell and Peter Clayton, are combining their talents to launch Recruiting Pods, reports Cheezhead Recruiting News and Opinion. Offering customized podcasts for employment agencies, recruiters, and executive search firms this is truly recruiting 2.0.
“Podcasts have a threefold ad effectiveness increase over traditional online video and a sevenfold effectiveness increase over television, according to a survey conducted by Podtrac in 2008,” Clayton said. “When I started podcasting in 2005, nobody knew what a podcast was. This year, eMarketer estimates there are 22 million internet users who download at least one podcast per month. Podcasting is radio TiVo. The tremendous success of the iPhone and other smart phones is fueling the growth, interest, and popularity of podcasts.”
According to their press release, Recruiting Pods will cross promote these customized podcast on career advice internet radio station JobRadio.fm as well as Recruitingpods.com, iTunes, and other podcast aggregation sites.
This unique and catchy forum of recruiting will allow professionals to delve deeper into the unique qualities of their available opportunities as well as fully explain their needs for expertise, qualifications and specialties, without the fear of being to textually dense. While jobs was never the first thing we thought of when we imagined pods, we give a big ku-DOs to Russell and Clayton for trying something new with digital technology.
