In advance of the December 5th premiere of the new reality TV show The Hasselhoffs, A&E has shared a half-minute promo video that manages something we never thought possible. It depicts what Baywatch might have felt like if it had starred the late Hervé Villechaize as sand jogger Mitch Buchannon.

Befuddled reactions to this manly-chest-hair-on-cute-baby clip, a.k.a. “Some People Are Born Awesome”, have begun to flow in at YouTube like icky clumps of seaweed at low tide. They range today from, “And they wonder where pedophilia comes from….?”, to ,“That is just plain creepy.”

The press release and emails on behalf of the A&E video originated mid-week from Enter: New Media. Our suggestion to the network and its production partner FremantleMedia North America: exit this new media, pronto.
