Cancilla Takes Over as Tris3ct CCO

Chicago-based agency Tris3ct (can we just replace the “3″ with “e” already?) has promoted executive creative director Chris Cancilla (the one on the left) to the top post of chief creative officer. Cancilla, who joined Tris3ct nearly 18 months from Y&R Chicago, succeeds Paul Kuzma (pictured, right), who has spent nearly five years at the agency, and has spearheaded creative on efforts such as the one below for Cottonelle in recent times. Kuzma is not leaving the agency, though, as he is now assuming the title of chief idea officer at Tris3ct.

Prior to Tris3ct, Cancilla spent nearly three years at Y&R Chicago, serving as SVP/GCD and working on accounts including Sears, Hilton Hotels, Dave & Buster’s and The American Red Cross. During his career, the new CCO has spent a few years as SVP/group creative director at Arc Worldwide/Leo Burnett.

Cottonelle Aims to Gussy Up Spare Toilet Paper Rolls

Look at that spare roll of toilet paper waiting expectantly atop your toilet. Doesn’t it make you feel self-conscious? Don’t you wish it looked pretty? Well, does Cottonelle have the solution for you!

As part of Cottonelle’s “Respect the Roll” campaign (which debuted in August), the Kimberly-Clark T.P. brand employed the talents of popular “happy chic” designer Jonathan Adler to produce three “groovy” new toilet paper roll covers. As part of the campaign, Chicago-based agency Tris3ct created two new TV spots starring characters who live in the fictional town of Where the Sun Don’t Shine. (So…they live up someone’s anus?) In this dark town, residents apparently “respect” their backup toilet paper so much that they’ve given it a little house to live in, all the while teaching each other about proper toilet paper care and etiquette. Credits and one more spot follow after the jump.

Y&R Chicago SVP/GCD Heads to Tris3ct

Chicago-based indie shop Tris3ct has lured another Y&R exec over to the West Loop as it’s hired Chris Cancilla to take on the post of executive creative director. Cancilla’s hiring follows that of former Y&R SVP, account director (on Sears) Tim Nelson, who joined Tris3ct as president back in May.

Cancilla, meanwhile, served as SVP/GCD during his nearly three-year stint at Y&R Chicago, working on Sears (including holiday campaigns and this year’s “Turf Wars” spring effort) as well as Hilton Hotels, Dave & Buster’s and The American Red Cross. Prior to Y&R, Cancilla spent four years at Arc Worldwide/Leo Burnett and led business wins for Visa and Capital One among others. Now as ECD at Tris3ct, which is a newly created post at the agency, Cancilla will lead creative efforts (duh), help in new business efforts and report to CCO Paul Kuzma.
