Chicago Distribution Center to Offer eBooks Sales to Uni Presses Through BiblioVault
BiblioVault, a service created by University of Chicago Press in 2001 and now residing under the umbrella of the Chicago
Distribution Center (CDC), which distributes many university presses, has announced a new service to allow university presses to sell eBooks from their own Web sites.
According to Publishers Weekly, Garrett Kiely, director of the University of Chicago Press, said, “the ability to sell print and electronic editions side by side is crucial. We believe that e-books and p-books will co-exist rather than replace each other and this shopping experience finally lets them work together.”
The service will be free to CDC clients, and will be offered to other publishers for a price in early 2010.
