Will NPR Face The FCC’s Wrath?

The radio trade journal Inside Radio reports President Bush’s now-famous expletive ran, uncensored, on NPR News sometime on Monday. This would make NPR the only broadcaster (as opposed to a cable outlet, like CNN) which ran the President’s conversation without “bleeping”. IR suggests that some broadcasters are actually hoping that airing a news broadcast of a statement made by the President would become a test case for the $325,000 indecency penalty before the FCC. In order for that to happen, someone would have to hear the broadcast and file an FCC complaint against a NPR member station.
