AT&T, BBDO, Jon Hamm And A Fictional Chicago Ad Agency

jonhammawardsshow.jpg

First there was Mad Men. Now, the world can look forward to two new shows about the world of the ad agency.

NBC is mulling a show based on Matt Beaumont’s novel “E.” BBDO has been contacted to consult, thought that is the nascent stages of being worked out according to the agency. However, AT&T has been rumored to have signed on for sponsoring the whole shebang. You see – the agency’s first assignment will be working on a pitch for the brand. How much do you think that’s worth to the AT&T? A million or three?

In January, cable network TNT will jump into the fray with new show, Trust Me, that focuses on two partners in a Chicago advertising agency.

In other news… Last night, was the American Cinematheque Award show, which is presented to an artist making a significant contribution to film. Basically, it’s one of those fancy schamancy Hollywood things that ad execs don’t ever get invited to. Still, at last night’s ceremony honoring Samuel Jackson, advertising kinda-sorta made an appearance. Mad man, Jon Hamm with actress Jennifer Westfeldt, hit the red carpet. Advertising never looked so good.
