Canal Street Eyesore Puts CK to Shame

Those sensitive downtown Manhattanites should take more offense to this glaring billboard on Canal and Hudson than the mildly racy CK ones they’re always up in arms about. Gothamist rightly compares this outdoor eyesore, which runs all night apparently, to the Seinfeld “Kenny Rogers Roasters” episode in which a bright red neon sign has deleterious effects.

Celebrity Vision, the company behind the billboards, “only [focuses] their advertising efforts on high traffic areas; specifically major tunnels and bridges” according to NYC the Blog. It looks like all this effort to cause blindness is on behalf of the city of Newark and the New Jersey Nets. The latter has started off its season a commendable 0-10, so money well spent. If someone lives in the area, let us know if this is still up and running.
