Former W+K Scribe Sells ’1000 Memories’ to Ancestry.com

Two years after bringing hisĀ  “1000 Memories” site to life, Rudy Adler has announced that he’s sold his creation to Ancestry.com. 1000 Memories, if you don’t recall, serves as an outlet for helping people deal with the death of loves ones by offering shared memories in digital form. The intro clip above should help explain things, and in addition to 1000 Memories, Ancestry.com’s acquisition also includes Adler’s “Shoebox” app, a smartphone-based photo scanner that was launched a year ago. To mark the sale, the 1000 Memories crew launched a new Shoebox for iOS that lets Ancestry.com members get in on the action.

Adler, a former W+K Portland copywriter who worked on Levi’s “Go Forth” among other campaigns, offers his thoughts on the acquisition here.
