Pepsi Unplugs Amp iPhone App

Guess dude-bros will have to look elsewhere for their hook-up tips. After enduring a week’s worth of backlash from blogs, CNN, Twitter, etc., Pepsi has finally nixed the R/GA-created “Amp Up Before You Score” app. In a statement, a Pepsi rep says, “We have decided to discontinue the AMP iPhone application. We’ve listened to a variety of audiences and determined this was the most appropriate course of action.”

Still, Adweek claims that the notoriety actually benefited the brand as “Amp Up” was one of the most popular free apps available for the iPhone.
