Make it stop, please. If all the desperate pleas for LeBron James‘ services weren’t sad and annoying enough, now the marketing ploy has devolved into, yes, a flash mob, and the poor kids at the Akron and Cleveland Boys & Girls Clubs are the pawns.
Mall patrons at Tower City in Ohio fell victim to this latest flash mob, brought to you by Fans For LeBron, a Cleveland committee that not only launched a billboard/web campaign, but thinks the town’s best chance of convincing #23 to stay put is to support his favorite causes. Well, can’t be any worse than this. As Deadspin notes, the sad part is this whole song and dance event (which included tunes from the Footloose soundtrack and Usher) was sadly missing one key element: LeBron.
