Sean Thompson Leaves 180 to Lead Arnold Amsterdam, Volvo

We’ve been hearing for well over a month that Sean Thompson is leaving his creative director post at 180 Amsterdam to lead the Volvo business at the soon-to-opened Arnold office in the Dutch capital.

For whatever reason, it took this amount of time for the latter agency to finally confirm that not only is Thompson joining Arnold, but that he’s actually taking on the dual role of managing partner, global ECD of Team Volvo, as well as managing partner and ECD of Arnold Amsterdam. Thompson had served as CD at 180 Amsterdam since 2006 and was responsible for the BMW and Adidas accounts among others. Prior to 180, he served as a creative director at W+K London.

Meanwhile, Stephen Ward, who was global creative director on Volvo at Arnold, will be officially leaving the agency on Sept. 18. From what tipsters are telling us, he’s returning to directing and screenwriting.
