Two ACDs Join 22squared

22squaredToday we confirmed that two longtime Atlanta-area associates will work together at a third consecutive agency: Associate Creative Directors Rob Bloom and Ryan Taylor have left Moxie Interactive to join 22squared.

We last heard from copywriter Bloom and art director Taylor when they left their positions at JWT’s Atlanta office for the ACD roles at Moxie just over a year ago.

While at the latter shop, the two both worked on the Georgia Pacific account under current EVP of creative Anthony Reeves; they will now serve as senior creatives within 22′s newly formed content department.

Moving forward, both Bloom and Taylor will report to 22squared EVP/CCD John Stapleton.

Moxie Has Now Apparently Assembled its ‘Dream Team’

From what we’ve gathered over the last, oh, 15 months or so, it hasn’t been the smoothest ride for Atlanta’s Moxie Interactive. But rather than dwell on the seemingly constant supply of negative news about the agency (defections, cuts, etc.) dating back to late 2011 (you have our search engine for that), let’s try to just focus on the now for at least a minute. Moxie has announced that it’s rounded out what it’s dubbed its “dream team”–aka senior leadership team–with the hiring of 22squared alum Jane Matthews as SVP, new business, which we’ve been told is a new position at the agency.

In a statement, Moxie president Suzy Deering says, “Jane is the final piece of the puzzle for the senior team at Moxie. With the leadership team now in place, she will be instrumental in catapulting the Moxie brand in the marketplace sharing our data and insight driven approach and securing new brands and partners to collaborate with in the digital space.”

As for the rest of the pieces of the puzzle, they include the likes of CTO Matthew Fleischman and EVP, creative Anthony Reeves, who joined last fall, Sharon Boddie, SVP of strategy and media and John Rich, VP of digital strategy. As for Moxie’s latest hire, Matthews (pictured) joins after spending the last seven years at fellow Atlanta-based agency, 22squared, where she founded the agency’s new business practice.

Well, Something’s Up at Moxie Again

Yes, that old sense of deja vu is creeping in (well, not that old considering most of our posts related to this agency have been from this year), but it appears that Atlanta-based Moxie Interactive has made some cuts recently. Over the last 12 hours, we’ve received a handful of tips with the usual doomsday flair including ones like this: “The ax swingeth at moxie. ho ho ho.”

Well, after digging a bit, what we can tell you thus far is that according to sources familiar with the matter, Moxie, which is housed within the ZenithOptimedia network, has indeed “augmented” its team since the arrival of CTO Matt Fleischman and EVP/creative, Anthony Reeves. Of course, the pair joined Moxie nearly three months ago, so we’re trying to deduce just how much “augmentation” the agency has undergone since that time. Plus, the fresh tips from last night make us that much more curious. We’re hoping to get some clarification on the matter as the day progresses. Stay tuned.

Moxie Welcomes New CTO, Creative Lead

After what seemed like a departure-plagued spring and summer at Moxie Interactive, the Atlanta-based Zenith Media agency finally has some good news to report as it’s not only brought on Matthew Fleischman as chief technology officer, but Anthony Reeves as EVP, creative. In terms of the former, Fleischman has spent the last two-and-a-half years as director, digital systems and analytics at Microsoft’s Redmond, WA headquarters and has also served on the technology side at agencies such as Wunderman, McCann and what was then Publicis Modem.

As for its new creative hire, Moxie didn’t have to look too far to essentially find its replacement for Chris Gomersall, who split for Facebook several months ago. Reeves (pictured) has spent the last four years or so in Seattle as ECD/VP of creative at Draftfcb unit The Hacker Group. Prior to Hacker, the creative exec spent time as a CD at the likes of JWT and New Zealand’s Clemenger BBDO.

Fleischman’s start date at Moxie has been for Oct. 15 while Reeves, we’ve been told, will assume his post “some time in October.” Update: On Hacker’s end, the DFCB division has confirmed that Anthony, who is relocating to Atlanta, will be leaving the agency in early October.
