Norton Leaving BBDO Atlanta

We’ve received confirmation from the BBDO camp that Cabot Norton, who’s spent the last three years at said agency’s Atlanta office and most recently served as its SVP/executive creative director, is leaving as of tomorrow. No other word on what’s next for Norton or BBDO ATL, but sources are telling us that the creative exec wants to return to New York.  After all, Norton spent well over a decade at BBDO’s Big Apple hub, working his way up from copywriter to creative director on accounts ranging from FedEx to AT&T.

If you recall, Norton was part of a trio of creative leaders at BBDO Atlanta–the other two being Heather Gorman and Jeff Spillanewho succeeded outgoing CCO Bobby Pearce a year ago. BBDO and Spillane/Gorman parted ways late last year and the pair is now based in NYC.  We’ll fill in the blanks when we hear more.

Spillane, Gorman Out at BBDO Atlanta

We’ve received confirmation that after spending nearly six months co-leading creative at BBDO Atlanta, Jeff Spillane and Heather Gorman‘s time at the agency came to an end as of last Friday. No word yet on the circumstances of their departure or is they’re headed a new gig. The pair (pictured l-r) was appointed to SVP/creative heads alongside Cabot Norton at BBDO Atlanta after the agency and CCO Bobby Pearce parted ways at the end of May (Norton remains with BBDO ATL). Spillane and Gorman, an art director/copywriter team, respectively, joined BBDO Atlanta over three years ago from CP+B. In the ensuing years, the duo worked on campaigns for clients including AT&T and the Florida Department of Citrus. We’ve been told their responsibilities will be handled internally for the time being.

Pearce Out at BBDO ATL

Well, two weeks after first hearing about it on the Spy line, BBDO finally confirms that Bobby Pearce, CCO of its Atlanta office, will be leaving the agency effective June 1 to pursue “entrepreneurial endeavors.” Pearce, who has spent the last two-and-a-half years as CCO in the ATL, will in essence be replaced by a creative team that includes ECDs Heather Gorman, Cabot Norton and Jeff Spillane, who have now been promoted to SVPs at the agency. As of now, BBDO Atlanta has no plans to name a new CCO.

Anyhow, Gorman and Spillane, an art director/copywriting team, respectively, joined the agency three years ago from CP+B and have since worked on campaigns for AT&T and the Florida Department of Citrus. Meanwhile, Norton moved down to Atlanta from Atmosphere BBDO in New York in 2010. Along with the creative changes, BBDO Atlanta has confirmed that Catrina McAuliffe, director of behavioral planning, will be leaving to join another agency. Her last day will be June 8.

Whew, it’s been a busy May to say the least at BBDO Atlanta as this latest news comes just two weeks after it was announced that Gill Duff was taking over as the agency’s president/CEO.
