CP+B LA Gets Sweet for WeMo

CP+B has just launched the first ever marketing campaign for home automation company WeMo, taking aim at viewer’s sweet sides with a 60-second broadcast spot.

The spot, entitled “The Big Anniversary Rig” tells the story of a couple separated on their first wedding anniversary. To celebrate, the husband sets up an “anniversary rig” using WeMo’s automation, surprising the wife when she gets home with a series of romantic gestures accomplished using WeMo. Depending on your tolerance for sweetness, the spot may or may not be overly saccharine, but it’s a clever way to show WeMo in an emotional context. “The Big Anniversary Rig” debuted online today, prompting viewers to watch three separate “How Dan Did It” videos. It will make its broadcast debut on network television next month. Read more

Rob Zombie Brings Doom, This Time for Amdro

As a longtime follower of the Halloween mythology, I was somewhat struck when Rob Zombie decided to overhaul the series, but probably more so when he subsequently took his talents to Woolite. But, it doesn’t veer from the man’s vision and neither does this spot starring Ron Howard‘s brother Clint, who plays somewhat maniacal in this effort from Saatchi & Saatchi New York for the ant-killing brand, Amdro. It’s only thirty seconds, but damn, did those pesky ants have it coming to them. Credits after the jump.

Domino’s New Statement: Kids Don’t Have Same Taste as Adults

We can’t help but be reminded of the cinematic masterpiece Kindergarten Cop when watching this new Domino’s ad from CP+B, which picks a different kind of focus group altogether for its new campaign.  The new spot promotes the pizza chain’s specialty deal and thankfully there are no dairy farm-related hijinks involved. However, um, cheesy you think the campaign is, it seems like Crispin’s efforts are paying off as Domino’s hit a new 52-week high on the stock market today. Hooray? Credits after the jump.

EA Sports Delves Into ‘MMA’

San Fran-based agency Heat, along with EA Sports, had to go about the launch of EA’s new MMA video game very carefully as to not get it confused with THQ’s UFC UndisputedMMA focuses on the hard knocks global training associated with Mixed Martial Arts, giving nods to Japan for judo, Brazil for jiu-jitsu, Thailand for Muay Thai and America for boxing. According to the Heat camp, intensity and training are seen as key differentiators between EA Sports’ MMA and its THQ rival.

Since UFC President Dana White owns all the big names of the sport along with pretty much everything else that has to do with MMA, the Heat creatives had to improvise and rely on something so simple as a price tag to one-up the competition.

The spot above titled “The Sherdog MMA Fighter Exchange” from Sherdog.com will provide fans with coverage and behind-the-scenes footage as EA Sports pairs up four young up-and-comers with Strikeforce’s Luke Rockhold, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Gegard Mousasi and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, eventually sending all eight to train in Brazil, Japan, and the U.S. On Dec. 4. Sherdog will live-stream the young fighters’ Strikeforce undercard debut. Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, as with other Heat collaborations, handled the media duties.

Domino’s Brings Focus Group to the Dairy Farm

We’ve covered some Domino’s stuff in the recent past,  i.e. the whole “take a picture of your pizza and send it to us” bit. That idea was kind of nifty-getting the audience involved and just showing the pizza as it is with no smoke & mirrors.

Now, Crispin Porter + Bogusky is attempting to prove how seriously Domino’s takes its cheese by setting up a focus group in the middle of a dairy farm, one that the pizza chain actually uses. Still, are we to honestly believe these people aren’t aware of a fake set? View full credits after the jump.
