Here’s Some Clarification on MRY Prez Judith Carr’s Next Move

Just to clarify things right quick for those on the Spy line, we spoke to sources in the know, and yes, we’ve received confirmation that Judith Carr, currently president and now-Publicis Groupe-owned DigitasLBi, is changing courses just slightly. From what we’ve been told, Carr, who’s been with what was then LBi for seven years, will be part of a move that includes “streamlining management,” though she’s staying within the organization and starting her own practice within the Publicis Groupe network.

Timeline has yet to be finalized (we’re told it could be anywhere from six weeks to end of year at this point), but we’ll keep you posted if and when we hear more about Carr, who sources say is just one of a few upcoming leadership shifts at DigitasLBi/MRY on coming up. We’re of course staying tuned.

Rokkan Expands to L.A., Chicago, Welcomes Back Carley as ECD

It’s been a busy morning on the Publicis Groupe front to say the least. Following the big news that Maurice Levy & company was merging Digitas with LBi (more on that in a minute), NYC-based digital agency Rokkan, which Publicis Groupe acquired back in December, has announced that it’s opening its doors in both Chicago and Los Angeles.

No word yet on what staff count is or specific clients that each office is catering to, but along with the U.S. expansion, Rokkan has welcomed back Brian Carley to serve as its first ECD. Carley rejoins Rokkan after spending the last two years as SVP/ECD at Saatchi & Saatchi NY, where he spearheaded work for clients including Trident, General Mills and P&G. Now back at Rokkan, where he served as creative director during his first tour of duty, Carley will lead creative across the network for a roster including JetBlue, Caesars, Stoli, Sharp and Chipotle.

LBi Undergoes Leadership Shift

We’ve been hearing for well over a week that Syrup founding partner, CEO and president Rob Holzer was no longer with the LBi-owned shop and now the agency finally confirms the news. With Holzer leaving after 12 years to “pursue new opportunities within the industry,” Omino Gardezi (um, pictured) is being promoted to MD of Syrup while Jakob Daschek continues in his role as ECD.

On the LBi front, Frank Pedersen, formally the agency’s US COO, will now serve as CEO of the organization stateside while co-president Judith Carr will step into the role of US president of LBi and MD of the New York office. As we reported in September, Christian Anthony, formerly CEO and Jason Klein, formally co-president, have left and will now be pursuing new entrepreneurial opportunities.

Anthony, Klein Out as LBi Undergoes Executive Shift

Just over six months after their digital agency, Special Ops Media, was combined with IconNicholson as part of parent company LBi’s move into the U.S. (they even sent us ice cream to celebrate), Christian Anthony and Jason Klein (pictured)¬† have now left the agency. Anthony and Klein became CEO and co-president, respectively, once the merger took place back at the beginning of March. Special Ops has been housed under the LBi umbrella since it was acquired by the latter in April 2008. We received this statement from LBi:

“LBi announced changes this week to the US executive team due to the successful integration of the two agencies concluding earlier than expected. Frank Pedersen, formally COO of the LBi in the US, will now serve as CEO of the US operation. Co-President Judith Carr will step into the role of President of LBi in the US and Managing Director of the New York flagship. ¬†Christian Anthony, formerly CEO and Jason Klein, formally Co-President, have both decided to focus on new entrepreneurial opportunities. ”
