Ex-Frogger Grantham Lands at DDB

A little over a month after leaving StrawberryFrog, Richie Grantham has found a new gig, making the move from New York to Chicago where he’s joining up with DDB as SVP, group strategy director on the Mars Wrigley business. Grantham spent eight months at the Frogpond, serving as group strategic planning director for Pampers, Sabra, etc.

Joining Grantham on the Mars Wrigley account at DDB Chicago is Janelle James, who’s taking on the role of SVP, group business director. Prior to DDB, James had two tours of duty at Leo Burnett, where she spent 10 years total and worked her way up to VP, account director on P&G North America.

We Hear: Two More Folks Leave the Frogpond

Sources familiar with the matter tell us that StrawberryFrog’s New York office has lost two more notable staffers, namely Richie Grantham and Katie Lewis-Hepp. Grantham, aka “Richie G,” just joined the Froggers in January as group planning/strategy director, which was a newly created position at the time. Prior to that, he served as chief innovation officer at Sarkissian Mason, during which time he spoke to us about digital ideation and intellectual property.

Lewis-Hepp, meanwhile, spent a bit more time at StrawberryFrog, joining the agency four years ago from Fallon as interactive producer. She eventually moved up to lead, digital production in 2009.

Update: Grantham has confirmed that this is his last week at StrawberryFrog, and from the looks of his response, he’s leaving on good terms. He tells us, “In the short amount of time I have been here, I have had the privilege of working with some of the best talent in the industry. And I will miss them.”

StrawberryFrog Adds Grantham to NY Office

Scott Goodson & Co. are sprucing things up in the strategy department at StawberryFrog’s New York office as the agency’s hired Richie Grantham to take on the newly created post of group planning/strategy director. Grantham, who starts at SF today, joins from Sarkissian Mason, where moved up from VP, strategy+invention to chief innovation officer in three years’ time.

Since 2006, Grantham has also run his own digital marketing/strategy consultancy, Risque, and was once a “human intelligence director” (how Phillip K. Dick) for Fahrenheit 212. From what the agency tells us, 212 has a “a legacy focus on culture innovation and business, which is a perfect pedigree for what we do at StrawberryFrog: Cultural Movement.” Now at StrawberryFrog, Grantham joins AgencySpy OG Celestine Arnold in the re-organized strategy department. Arnold joined SF from Dare Digital earlier this month as director of emerging media strategy. Regarding both new hires, StrawberryFrog CSO Ilana Bryant says, “Richie and Celestine a[re] true ‘free range strategists’ with a fantastic track record across multiple marketing areas including brand strategy, product innovation, PR, design, digital media and gaming. They share a passion for cultural branding and community mobilization that make them perfect cultural movement strategists for StrawberryFrog.  We’re excited for them to expand our department.”

If you care to reminisce for a moment, Grantham spoke to AgencySpy when he first joined Sarkissian back in ’08 and here’s what the “very sharp” exec thought about digital ideation and more back then.
