The Red Pencils Return to Recruit Bike-Riding Ad Folks

Seeing as it’s World AIDS Day and all, it’s rather timely that SF-based freelance art director Keith Gibson and his Red Pencils crew return with their goodwill mission to fight the disease. Just like last year, the Red Pencils are looking to enlist people from the ad community to take part in the AIDS/LifeCycle, a seven-day bike ride that this time starts in San Francisco on June 5 and ends in Los Angeles on June 11. The current 2011 Red Pencils roster consists of:

Keith Gibson / Freelance Art Director & Designer / Riney, San Francisco
Michelle Kelly / Jr. Communication Strategist / GSP, San Fancisco
Brandon Reif / Creative Director / Draft FCB, San Francisco
Laura Gibson / Marketing Director / ECA, Oakland
James Brown / Freelance Creative Director/ San Francisco
Michael Tabtabai / Creative Director / Saatchi & Saatchi, Los Angeles
Mark Estes / Freelance Photographer / Oakland
Christopher Wood / Creative Director / Luckyfish, Atlanta

If interesting in riding, email team@redpencils.org or if you’d just like to download and put up the poster to show your support, here’s your link.  Full release after the jump.

The Red Pencils are back and we’re organizing a team of advertising folks  to ride in the AIDS/LifeCycle event in 2011. The AIDS/LifeCycle is a 7  day bike ride starting in San Francisco on June 5th, and finishing in  Los Angeles on June 11th. The event is designed to raise money to help fight AIDS/HIV, as well as educate the community about prevention.

Our team, The Red Pencils, is looking for volunteer riders who can participate this June. It is an amazing cause, and—although the organization and event are based in San Francisco—it is one we feel resonates everywhere. Last year we collectively raised over $55,000 dollars for the SF AIDS Foundation. We will start our aggressive team fundraising again in early Spring, but as of right now, we need more riders and sponsors for 2011.

Even if you don’t live in San Francisco, you can still register with the AIDS/LifeCycle to join The Red Pencils and come out to ride with us this June. We are looking to lock our team down before the New Year, so if you are interested, please do not hesitate to email us about your interest or with any questions.

If you would like to help, but aren’t much of a biker, there are many important jobs that need to be done. You can email us about those questions as well. We’d be more than happy to talk to you.

We would love to see as many people in our creative community help and support this cause. We have proven that our skills, abilities and hard work can do some real good for an event that needs the help.
